Appointed to deliver Scholtès new demonstration kitchen designed by Patricia Urquiola, Skansen faced the challenge of installing very high quality finishes into two floor plates of only 1,200sq ft a piece. Detailed co-ordination resulted in the installation of a new staircase, platform lift, toilets and shower into the existing structure. Bespoke finishes included purpose made joinery, specialist fittings delivered from Italy, two full demonstration kitchens and a high quality AV installation to display products to potential customers. Skansen’s hands on approach resulted in the delivery of a well co-ordinated, high quality retail space to an extremely happy Client.

    Liverpool Victoria Asset Management, 1-3 Bishopsgate, London EC2

    Skansen was appointed to carry out the enabling works prior to undertaking the CAT A refurbishment works. The building was stripped back to shell and core with all plant being removed and new riser openings being formed in the new existing slabs. The refurbishment works consisted of new mechanical and electrical services, installation of metal panned ceilings and raised access flooring to the offices, reconfiguration of toilets and the upgrade and provision of a double height reception area. The project received a Gold Ska Rating, achieving 82.5% of environmental good practice applicable within its design and delivery.

    55 Gracechurch Street, City of London

    Skansen has recently completed the CAT A refurbishment of the 4th to 6th Floors of 55 Gracechurch Street, following appointment by CB Richard Ellis on behalf of Ropemaker Properties. The building remained fully operational whilst the reception was stripped out and refurbished with new finishes throughout, including the installation of a new glazed façade with revolving doors.

    The three top office floors were completely refurbished with new ceilings, walls and floors and a new decking area created on the roof. Skansen received a commendation from the Considerate Contractor's Scheme for this project.

    35 Albemarle Street, London W1S

    Refurbishment of a Georgian Building over 5 floors. The works required the existing building fabric to be repaired and the creation of 4 floors of high quality office space in London’s West End. The top floor was converted into a fully fitted high spec contemporary apartment for the Client, with a bespoke kitchen installation and wet room. A key challenge of the project was the considered management of the neighbouring businesses, which included the landmark hotel, Brown’s.

    Royal Hospital Road, London SW3 

    Skansen were appointed to carry out the refurbishment works of the long wards and washrooms at The Royal Hospital Chelsea. These listed buildings, designed by Sir Christopher Wren, are full of history and period features providing a fitting home for veteran soldiers. Restoration of original features, including the motifs and central fireplace, was key to the success of the project. The specialist treatment of oak façade required close liaison with English Heritage to ensure the original design ethos was respected. The solution proposed by Skansen revived the interiors whilst maintaining the historical ambience of the wards.

    Croydon Magistrates’ Court

    A phased structural refurbishment at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on behalf of HMCS, in full occupation. The works included the conversion of magistrates’ courts into crown courts, prosecution areas into public waiting areas and family courts into magistrates’ courts, incorporating new lift shafts, staircases and secure access routes. Works also included public toilets and new DDA access and W/Cs. This required careful liaison with all departments in the building and the execution of noisy works outside working hours. Skansen also ensured the works complied with all the strict security parameters obviously required by the client.

    Eaton Gate, London SW1

    A refurbishment of two Grade II listed Georgian buildings. Large elements of the interior were carefully restored, retaining the character of the building in the common parts. Sympathetic structural modifications allowed Argyll Business Centres to provide a high quality, serviced office to meet the needs of their expanding Client base.

    Bath Road, Heathrow

    The launch of the new brand of Park Inn in the UK, requiring the complete refurbishment of this landmark Heathrow Hotel. On completion of the structural works and fabric refurbishment,
    Skansen remodelled the ground floor, incorporating a new bar/café area. All works were carried out whilst the hotel remained operational, presenting a number of logistical and sequencing challenges successfully met by the team.

    Skansen were appointed by DTZ to undertake the design and build refurbishment and fit out of 85,000sq.ft of occupied office space over 6 floors. Enhancement works were carried out to the Main Reception, 1st Floor Canteen and Lower Ground Floor administration. The general office space was taken from a shell and core condition to a full CAT B specification including new feature plasterboard and metal panel ceilings. Specific challenges included undertaking all noisy works out of hours to meet with the strict business requirements of other high profile tenants. With the successful completion of this project, Skansen continue to strengthen their presence in the public sector.
