Skansen were delighted to join the RMG team in providing this flagship delivery office in line with their ‘Project Archer’ strategy of centralising existing West London delivery offices. The project entailed the conversion of 3 units into one large sorting centre with associated offices, WC / shower blocks, industrial canteen and kitchen, secure storage areas and the provision of specialist weighing and sorting machines. The fourth unit was converted into a “garage” for delivery vehicles. Key to project delivery was the effective management of site logistics and health and safety, particularly with the high level services installations, up to 11m in height, to provide adequate lighting and power distribution, new fire alarms, data, CCTV and security packages. Vast external works were also undertaken, re-developing the existing car parks into secure parking with new fencing, gates and access barriers to the perimeter. These works included forming a new car park in a dis-used railway siding, installing petrol interceptors, pump chambers and hydrobrakes, due to the site's proximity to the Grand Union Canal.
