   Royal Hospital Road, London SW3 Skansen were appointed to carry out the refurbishment works of the long wards and washrooms at The Royal Hospital Chelsea. These listed buildings, designed by Sir Christopher Wren, are full of history and period features providing a fitting home for veteran soldiers. Restoration of original features, including the motifs and central fireplace, was key to the success of the project. The specialist treatment of oak façade required close liaison with English Heritage to ensure the original design ethos was respected. The solution proposed by Skansen revived the interiors whilst maintaining the historical ambience of the wards.
