Skansen awarded AIS Eco-Innovation Award 2009
The AIS Eco-Innovation Award recognises examples of successful implementation of environmental technologies, products, processes or techniques that will benefit clients, contractors and specifiers alike. AIS chief executive Simon Forrester said: “The Association is committed to recognising innovation and excellence in new and existing environmental technologies, processes and techniques in commercial interior fit-out. AIS strives to communicate best practice in all areas, but particularly in sustainability, as this will be a key factor for the future.” The judging panel, which included senior representatives from The Environment Agency, CIRIA (Construction Industry Research and Information Association), and The Environmental Academy said: “This was a very innovative entry with the ability to influence a large number of companies. The legacy of this project will be far reaching. Simon Forrester, AIS chief executive and chairman of the Association's Environmental Committee said: “Market forces are focusing attention on a more sustainable approach for fit out projects, and the Skansen scheme allows measurement of the environmental impact of fit-out projects, which will help interiors companies of all sizes improve their environmental performance and ultimately their bottom line.” James Pack, Director at Skansen said "We are delighted to have been presented with this award, it is huge recognition for the Ska Rating and the RICS’ leadership of the development team. Sustainability is not the sole responsibility of clients and or specifiers, the supply chain including contractors and manufacturers have a key role to play in the delivery of sustainable fit out. Ska Rating will provide AIS members and their clients with clear benefit in achieving and benchmarking even better sustainable design and delivery. AIS’ recognition in this Eco Innovation Award we believe will provide real momentum in promoting the environment within the industry." |
